Love your work. I got to get one of those Petzval lenses. Do you recommend them?

You have excellent work yourself!  I used the Lomo Petzval for a Canon camera – I rented it, and was sufficiently happy with it that I’ll buy one when I get the funds.  They’re hard to use focusing by eye – it is much easier if you can put the camera on a tripod and use live view.  In studio with a plain background, it would be a slightly soft focus lens.  If you have a detailed background like the forest shots, the bokeh gives a great effect.  Once I get the wetplate gear working well, I’m sure I’ll track down a Petzval for my 4×5 and 8×10 cameras, but that will mean finding some of the original ones from the late 1800s!
