My scanner doesn’t handle the reflective material in the wet-plates all that well, so I’m going back to clean up my scans comparing to the plates in preparation for a submission. The fun part is that if you get off-axis viewing either the plate or the monitor, the tones shift subtly, just to make things more difficult. The digital file is a pretty close match in color and tone to the plate, but you wouldn’t know it from this cell phone photo.
