Classical Blue Gallery
Classical Blue has the same roots as my Dreams in Silver project, and uses cyanotypes to emphasize the beauty of the female form while showing a more romanticized atmosphere to the work. The work has a vintage feel to it, but divorced from any particular time period. I’ve added some whimsy to the work in costuming and setting. The media for this work is cyanotype contact prints.
Cyanotypes are an 1840’s era process using an iron-based process rather than a silver based print; they are typified by the blue color of the prints. I use digital negatives to make the contact prints, and print using the sun. Originals for the negatives may be from digital, tintype, or 8×10 instant film.
